To day, The Health Healing Network Burundi is pleased to join the rest of the world to celebrate the World No Tobacco Day 2017 edition celebrated under theme ''Tobacco, A Threat to Development''.

Dear readers, Tobacco threatens us all. Say no to tobacco. Protect health, reduce poverty and promote development.

All countries must play a role in reducing the prevalence of tobacco to reduce its impact on development. We are calling for action all decision-makers, policy-makers, civil society, families and individuals to use this day to reflect on Tobacco burden on the world, country and personal levels then take relevant actions to free our world, continent, countries and families from Tobacco's burden.

Tobacco brings suffering, diseases and death and impoverishes families and national economy.

According to the World Health Organization:
-Up to 10 billion cigarettes are disposed of in the environment every day.
-The tobacco industry targets women by implying tobacco enhances gender equality, glamour, sociability and success.
-Tobacco threatens health, economies and development.
-Globally, around 226 million adult tobacco users live in poverty.
